Ogres are great hulking monstrosities with a real appetite for destruction. They are utterly ruthless and enjoy using their massive brawn to dominate others. The way Ogres figure it, their enemies have two choices – surrender their treasures, or get flattened and then surrender their treasures – and Ogres aren't bothered about which option their foes pick. Ogres combine a mercenary outlook and a bullying nature with an insatiable gluttony – a voracious hunger for food, wealth and power. An Ogre army is a fearsome sight – a sweaty mass of colossal warriors backed up by primeval monsters and shaggy tusked beasts from an ice-ridden age that still prowl the world. Motley Crew Reference (Ogre Kingdoms)

Wherever there is gold to be won you will find them. Whenever there is a fight in the offing they will be lurking around the next corner. These are dangerous men, all too willing to lend the weight of their blade to whoever will offer the heaviest purse. The Dogs of War are warlords and bandits, sell-swords and freebooters, and brave adventurers who willingly risk all upon the battlefield for the chance to win measureless riches. They are possibly the most egalitarian force in the whole of the Warhammer world. These sell-sword armies are formed from a wide variety of races who have set aside their petty differences and banded together under one banner. Man fights alongside Dwarf and Elf and Ogre, all in the name of the purest cause of all: unadulterated greed!

Dogs of War

The models in a unit of Maneaters are often armed with a variety of different weapons. If they are, your opponent must make it clear which model they want to allocate their attacks to. Any excess wounds are carried over to the rest of the unit as normal in an order chosen by your opponent.

Motley Crew

Unless stated otherwise, a model does not have a special rule. Most special rules are given to a model by the relevant entry in its Warhammer Armies book. In addition, a model's attacks can gain special rules because of the equipment it is using. Similarly, a model might get special rules as the result of a spell that has been cast upon it or perhaps even as the result of it being in a particular type of terrain. Where this is the case, the rule that governs the equipment, spell or terrain feature in question will make this clear. Most of the more commonly used special rules in Warhammer are listed here, but many troop types have their own unique abilities laid out in their Warhammer Armies book. Certain special rules partly consist of other special rules, all mentioned in the following pages. Unless otherwise noted, the effects of different special rules are cumulative. However, unless otherwise stated, a model gains no additional benefit from having the same special rule multiple times. This also applies to unique special rules in the various Warhammer Armies books that might contain special rules that are normally cumulative. Some special rules have an effect at the beginning of the battle, or before the game starts. These effects take place after both armies are deployed and any Deployment special rules have occurred but before the roll for first turn. Some special rules, especially in the Army Books, will affect models of a certain type. Note that special rules and spells such as this only ever affect friendly units from their own army, and will not affect enemy or allied units that happen to be in range. Eventually you are likely to come upon situations where two opposing special rules are in play. In these cases, the two special rules will simply cancel each other out either partially or completely, and neither will have an effect.
