The Norse are great warriors, and their Reavers are feared all over the world. Working themselves into a battle frenzy, an enraged Norseman is a terrifying opponent to face. The Norse Warhirds consists of all manner of terrifying warriors and monsters, from the lowly Bondsmen and Marauders that makes up the core of the armies, to the mighty Frost Giants and War Mammoths that makes the earth shake as they pass. Huscarls make up the elite, supported by immortal Einherjars, ferocious Ulfwerenar and frenzied Berserkers. Shield Maidens make stoic defenders, while the magical Valkyries swoop down upon their prey. When the armies of the Norse go to war, you better be prepared to run!

Special Rules Monsters are subject to the following special rules: Stomp, Swiftstride, Terror Split Profile In a similar manner to Cavalry certain ridden monsters have more than one set of characteristics, one for the monster and one for the crew, and is treated as a single model. When moving, the model always uses the Movement characteristic of the monster. The crew and the beasts use their own Weapon Skill, Strength, Initiative and Attacks characteristics when they attack. The Wounds and Toughness of the crew are never used – hits are resolved against the monster's Wounds and Toughness. It is the crew's Weapon Skill that is used for the purposes of the enemy rolling to hit, just as with cavalry. We assume the crew to be in complete control of the monster they are riding, so the monster's Leadership is never used. Just as with cavalry, we assume that special rules that apply to the monster do not normally also apply to the rider(s), and vice versa. Remember though that there are exceptions, as detailed under the rules for cavalry. Any missile weapons use the Ballistic Skill of the crew when making Shooting attacks. The crew can fire in 360 degrees around them, rather than only firing at targets within their front arc. This only applies to any missile weapons carried by the crew themselves, any missile weapons mounted on the monster itself can only fire in the model's forward arc as normal.  Character Mount Some characters can ride monsters. If a character has a ridden monster, the whole model is treated as having the troop type monster and thus follows all the rules for both characters and monster models including the Split Profile rules above. A character on a ridden monster cannot join other units. Unit Strength Monsters have a Unit Strength equal to their starting number of Wounds. Ridden Monsters add the number of riders to their Unit Strength. Line of Sight Monsters have a Line of Sight value of 5. Base Size  Monsters have an approved base size of 50x50mm, 50x75mm, 50x100mm, 100x150mm.

Rare

You can spend up to 25% of your points on Rare units. Rare units are the most unusual warriors in your army, mighty monsters, weird war machines and elite soldiers of unsurpassed skill. Rare units are often fantastically powerful, but often require a canny general to get the most from them.
